The Limitations Of Social Networks

There are a lot of buzz these days regarding the apparent benefits of social networks when it comes to internet marketing.  Well I say that these buzz are overhyped.  Social networks like Facebook and Twitter which are the most popular ones have their limitations.  Of course lots of LIKES and SHARES somehow benefit an individual's article or blog post.

However, let us put everything in perspective.  Facebook's wall and Twitter's feed is a continuous feed.  Only the most recent get's the attention of users.  I say only the top 3 part of the feed of wall post both in Facebook and Twitter gets the most attention, the others are not getting enough attention no matter how nice is the topic you are sharing.

In this regard, I am proposing a more targetted approach in terms of the time you do the sharing and tweeting at Facebook and Twitter respectively.  If you are targetting a certain country, determine the time when people are usually logged in to their Facebook and Twitter accounts.  Otherwise, your links are buried by the Wall updates that continuously come from their Facebook friends and Twitter accounts they follow.

Social networking is only effective in the sense that Likes, Shares and Tweets maybe interpreted by Search Engines as votes on the quality of the site's content or article or blog post.  With this being said, you may be thinking of buying Facebook Likes from those who offer such services.

I caution against those types of Blackhat techniques, they are ineffective since the complicated search engine algorithms especially Google, detects such artificial ways of increasing likes and shares from Facebook.

An internet marketer should focus on content, with good content the Likes, Shares and Tweets naturally follows.

Hence, I should say, listbuilding is still the more effective way of internet marketing because you have the chance to deliver the message directly to the email of the subscriber, instead of randomly wishing that your Shares, Tweets and Likes gets to be seen by others on Facebook and Twitter.

  • Writing For Self Or For Client?
What does a true writer aspire? A writer really needs some peace of mind like most people do. What brings him the real tranquillity of thoughts? There are different types of writers. Some of them write articles, some write stories, some write scripts while a few write purely for themselves. The real peace comes when you do something that you love doing the most. My fundamental question is what brings more pleasure to the writer? Writing for own self or writing for others? It really depends on what is your gauging factor.
